We all know that the only constant is change: everything ends and everyone eventually dies. So why are we shocked when people die or situations change? Because our knowledge of death and impermanence remains superficial. In this situation it is very easy to take our life for granted and for time to slip through our fingers.
When we integrate our knowledge of impermanence and mortality into the depths of our heart, everything changes. We can see this with people who have near-death experiences—they often return with a new sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. We can experience this transformation without risking our life, by practicing the simple meditations in this mini-retreat.
