Loss is universal, a true suffering. We call this type of suffering grief. But if we look deeply we find that the suffering comes not from loss itself but the negative mind of desirous attachment.
While attachment causes us pain, love — including our love for the departed — brings only peace. We’ll explore in this class the nature of attachment and ways of diminishing it, alongside the healing potential of love.

The Guru Yoga and Mandala Offering retreat combines two of the Four Great Preliminary Guides that we need to practice if we want to gain Mahamudra realizations – the quick path to Enlightenment. Spiritual realizations depend upon creating specific inner conditions, such as purifying negativity, accumulating merit, and receiving blessings.
In this retreat we focus on the preliminary practices of accumulating merit and receiving blessings. Making mandala offerings is the gateway to accumulating the collection of merit and attaining an enlightened Pure Land. Guru Yoga is the gateway to receiving powerful blessings from the Buddhas of the Ten Directions through our Spiritual Guide. The practice is accomplished within the sadhana Offering to the Spiritual Guide.
You can prepare for this retreat by reviewing the instructions on making mandala offerings found in 'The New Guide to Dakini Land' (pg.97-102).
To prepare for the practice of Guru Yoga we recommend you read 'Joyful Path of Good Fortune' (pg. 113-142) and 'The Oral Instructions of the Mahamudra' (pg.21-27).
Note: Retreat sessions will be unguided.

The path to creating the most meaningful and joyful life does not have to involve making external changes in job or lifestyle. It simply involves making a shift in our intention. In this series, we will understand how, through deepening our connection with positive intentions, we can improve our life, as well as bring peace and happiness to others.
Buddha taught that by developing six specific states of mind, we can transform every facet of our life, our job, our relationships and so on, into opportunities to truly be a friend of the world. Through teaching and guided meditation, we will create extraordinary possibilities for living the very best life, for both ourselves and others.
