The path to creating the most meaningful and joyful life does not have to involve making external changes in job or lifestyle. It simply involves making a shift in our intention. In this series, we will understand how, through deepening our connection with positive intentions, we can improve our life, as well as bring peace and happiness to others.

This month's focus: MORAL DISCIPLINE

In Kadampa Buddhism, developing an intention to abandon harmful actions and cultivate our good heart is called training in moral discipline. It is the foundation for training in concentration; which alone leads to spiritual attainments. It functions like a shield that protects us from negative states of mind and protects others from negativity and harm.

In this class, we will focus on what Buddha meant by moral discipline, as well as learn practical ways we can apply this virtuous mind in our daily lives. Everyone welcome!

What is prayer... Why do we need to pray... Who are we praying to...

Prayers or chanted meditations are a profound part of training in a spiritual life. A creative process of correct and virtuous imagination. They help us still our mind, connect with enlightened beings or Buddhas, and receive the inspiring energy of blessings. We can practically solve problems and conflicts of the world through praying.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso said, "Our job is, we pray, we pray for obstacles to be pacified. We pray for people to pacify their negativity, wrong views, their extreme views, through prayer -- we pray for everybody to become friends; to have harmony, good relationships, to pacify their wrong views of selfish intention. This is our job. I believe it is the best method to help."

In this workshop, Gen Kelsang Chogyop will explore the nature of prayer, how to make it more powerful and effective, and how to integrate it into our busy daily lives. There will be teachings, guided meditations and time for Q&A. Everyone is welcome!

FROM WITHIN."
