Breaking Free from Bad Habits

At this time of year, we often hear jokes about how hard it is to keep New Year’s resolutions. This is because we don’t know how to break our bad habits or establish good ones in a healthy, sustainable way. We set unrealistic goals, sabotage ourselves with excessive self-criticism, or even just lose interest—and our good intentions fall by the wayside within just a few weeks.

Using methods that Buddha taught, we can learn how to break bad habits and establish good ones in a way that leads to healthy self-esteem and lasting results. Especially by training in mindfulness, alertness, and conscientiousness, and through being willing to receive help, we can make lasting change in our lives and in our hearts.

Menlha Kadampa Buddhist Center is located on Coryell Street between George Street and Main Street, two blocks north of Bridge Street. There is free parking available on the other side of Main Street and starting one block north, on York Street.
